The Making of the Heritage Range

The Heritage range was born out of a desire to create a premium collection that connected my paintings and designs of flora and fauna with luxury and quality, using fully sustainable sourced materials and made by British craftsmen.

The Range

The range has a gentle and nostalgic beauty and is specially made for me by Duchess China, who have been manufacturing Fine Bone China products in Stoke-on-Trent, the historical home of pottery in the UK, since 1888. A mix of traditional and modern manufacturing techniques are applied by a team of skilled craftsmanship. This means that over 20 pairs of hands can be involved in making a single piece of Heritage ware.

Hand Painted Design

It starts with a moment, a memory or of something beautiful captured in watercolour onto paper.

Silk Screen Printed Decals

My design is silk screen printed as a waterslide decal before being transferred onto fine bone china by skilled decorators.

Fine Bone China

Removed from the plaster cast mould each fine bone china piece is then biscuit fired in a kiln, taking the clay from soft to a hard form, dipped in glaze and fired a second time to create the beautiful white translucent finish synonymous with fine bone china.

Decoration

In the decoration department my printed decals are applied to the china piece together with a finishing touch of colour to the handle before going into the kiln for a third and final time.
